A skydive from 16000ft lasts only one minute. In that precious time you can screw up in a hundred different ways. There are a thousand different ways to screw up a drawing in one minute, and this is a catalog of a few. I shall draw you on the beaches, on the landing grounds and on the hills, and I shall never surrender. And you will comment on how "Meh, it's ok but it doesn't really look much like me", 'cause everyone's a critic, goddamit!

You will laugh. No, you'll shake your head in disgust :)
For a while now I've been in love with the cheap-as-dirt Staedtler graphite 777 (0.5mm). Why?
It has a very functional eraser, with just the right amount of abrasiveness for my drawings. Sturdy and wide and long lasting, so I stopped carrying a kneaded eraser in my pocket during my hunts. It really helps to have access to an eraser with a flick of the wrist (I rarely use an eraser for corrections, but I sometimes use it for effects or for clearing a part fo the page that has some failed sketch on it and is standing in my way).
Also, it has a rounded-off tip, so it won't pierce my pockets :)
Also, it is very light (cheap plastic/rubber piece of crap) and the mechanism seems to be reasonably lasting and problem free (for the price).
Also, since it is so cheap, I bought a dozen of them and spread them all over the place, so I always have one at arms length. I used to lose my mechanical pencil all the time. I still lose it now, but I find it's twin instead :). Now I never have to worry about getting confortable with a different grip, when forced to use another pencil. They're all the same.
Inside, of course, they're all loaded with 2B. Anything harder is for architects and such creatures :)
Staedtler 777 - I'm not familiar with it. No I don't laugh at anyones choice. And I am definitely in favour of a decent eraser on a pencil. I'll try getting one seeing it is so highly recommended. I'm surprised at the choice of 0.5. I'm not an artist at all, I thought 0.5 was generally considered too thin for drawing?

ou sim.
I really admire your art. So since I am some sort of nutcase mechanical pencil collector, what do use to draw all these?

Yep, but most of these drawings are done on a moleskine notebook that fits into my pocket, so you see... :)
So, I got a Staedtler 777, and blogged my thoughts. I'd appreciate your insight.
